Many newer neighborhoods add a MUD. Georgetown Utility Systems, owned by the city, provides electric, water, wastewater and trash in much of the area, but some addresses are served by Oncor or Pedernales Electric Cooperative, so check by address.
I-35 and SH 130 are the main commuter routes; the city's rideGTX program offers subsidized $4 rides. There are nearly 9 miles of trails along the San Gabriel River and 28 miles around Lake Georgetown. The Red Poppy Festival (Georgetown is the Legislature-named Red Poppy Capital of Texas) runs the last full weekend of April, and the Christmas Stroll is in early December.
