For most of the time Lakeside at Blackhawk has existed, "going out" meant getting in the car. Dinner meant crossing SH 130 or pointing toward Stone Hill Town Center and picking from whatever chain had a table open. Coffee meant a drive-thru run before the highway. That has been the rhythm long enough that most residents do it without thinking.
It is worth thinking about now, because the newest corner in the whole Blackhawk footprint is not downtown, and it is not across the highway. It is going up on Speidel Drive, the same street that already carries Rowe Lane Elementary and the amenity center for the neighboring Park at Blackhawk section. Lakeside at Blackhawk, Park at Blackhawk, Fairways of Blackhawk, Meadows of Blackhawk, Estates of Blackhawk, and Retreat at Blackhawk have always shared streets, schools, and amenities as sibling neighborhoods inside the same master plan. What has not existed until now is a retail corner sitting right where those streets meet.
The Corner at Hodde and Speidel
The project is called Ridge Crossing, and it sits at the intersection of Hodde Lane and Speidel Drive. Community Impact reported in late January 2026 that construction was underway on the development, describing it as roughly 21,000 square feet across two buildings, with retail and restaurant space planned and completion expected later in the year. The plans also call for a central outdoor play area built for families, including glow-in-the-dark elements designed for kids of all ages, a detail that suggests this was drawn up as a gathering spot rather than a strip of drive-thru windows.
A public filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation tells a slightly different story about timing. That filing set an original start date of June 2024 and a completion target of June 2025, at a project cost of $8 million for roughly 22,000 square feet. By the time Community Impact checked in seven months past that original completion date, the project was still under construction. That gap between the paper timeline and the ground reality is not unusual for retail builds in fast-growing suburbs, but it does mean residents who have been waiting for this corner to open have already waited longer than the original plan called for.
At least one tenant has already committed. Commercial leasing records show Skip's Beer Wine and Liquor has signed for space at Ridge Crossing, which gives the first real signal of what the corner will actually feel like once the buildings are finished. A leasing listing for the site also describes it as neighborhood retail built to serve thousands of nearby rooftops, which lines up with how fast Blackhawk and the surrounding subdivisions have filled in over the past several years.
What's Already Open Down the Road
While Ridge Crossing finishes, the rest of the east side of Pflugerville has not been waiting around. A cluster of new businesses has opened within the past few months along the SH 130 corridor and East Pflugerville Parkway, close enough that they have already become part of some residents' rotation.
Ike's Love & Sandwiches opened its Pflugerville location on June 5, 2026, the fourth Ike's in the Austin area. The San Francisco chain built its name on sandwiches loaded with signature sauces on Dutch crunch bread, and the Pflugerville shop has its own exclusive item on the menu, the Pfluger Schnitzel, along with vegan, vegetarian, halal, and gluten-free options.
Kura Revolving Sushi Bar opened its Pflugerville location in January 2026, the second in the greater Austin metro. Dishes travel to the table on a two-level conveyor belt, with automated drink delivery and a prize system tied to returned plates, and a third Austin-area location was already planned for later in the year.
Renzo Gracie Jiu Jitsu, which also has locations in Round Rock and Austin, opened its doors in April 2026 and held a grand opening event on June 6. The gym runs classes for both kids and adults and does not require prior experience to join.
Back Nine Golf opened in July 2026 with four simulator bays running 24 hours a day, letting golfers play courses like Pebble Beach or St. Andrews on their own schedule without leaving the neighborhood.
What's Still Under Construction
A second wave is filed and permitted but not yet open, which matters if you are deciding what to actually plan around this fall versus what to just keep an eye on.
Lucky Lab Coffee Co., a dog-friendly cafe with roots near the University of Texas campus, is expanding to Pflugerville with construction set to wrap up in October 2026. The shop pours locally roasted coffee from Third Coast Coffee alongside handcrafted snacks.
El Pollo Rico has filed plans for a new Pflugerville location, with construction set to begin in August 2026 and wrap up in December, a 2,700-square-foot build estimated at $450,000. The chain is known locally for charcoal-grilled chicken, carne asada, caldo de pollo, and flautas.
Ally Medical Emergency Room has also filed plans, with construction beginning in August 2026 and completion expected in early April 2027, an 8,100-square-foot project estimated at $2.5 million.
La Dolce Nail Spa is set to occupy a 5,600-square-foot space near the SH 130 corridor closer to the Hutto line, in a retail center that already houses Kids Tooth Team dental office and Luv Braces. Renovations are expected to run from September 2026 through June 2027.
Here is how it all lines up right now:

The Drive Just Got Shorter
None of this replaces what Blackhawk has always had going for it. The golf course is still the golf course. The fishing ponds and trails inside Lakeside at Blackhawk are not going anywhere. But the assumption that anything new means a drive across the highway is no longer accurate, and the corner taking shape at Hodde and Speidel is the clearest sign of that. It is being built on the same street as the elementary school and the neighboring section's clubhouse, which means the next time you are deciding where to grab dinner or a coffee, the newest option might be closer than the one you have been driving to for years.
